MaryAnne John is the founder of Serenity Advising and a graduate of Whitworth University, where she earned her Master of Science in Financial Planning. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Public Relations from Eastern Washington University. With over a decade of experience in the financial services industry since 2014, MaryAnne is passionate about helping individuals, families, and business owners create clear, goal-focused financial plans that support the life they want to live.
MaryAnne began her career working her way through college at a non-profit organization, where she remained after graduation and served in a variety of roles. Her favorite work was as a life-skills educator and project manager, where she helped individuals build practical skills like budgeting, planning for the future, and adapting those plans as life changed. Growing up in a family of educators and immersed in the non-profit world, she developed a deep understanding of the unique financial challenges faced by non-profit professionals and small business owners. Recognizing the lack of accessible financial guidance for these groups, she felt called to educate and empower others to take control of their financial future.
That passion led her to transition into financial advising, where she joined an established firm and built her expertise in helping clients from all backgrounds work toward long-term financial goals. Today, her approach centers on thoughtful, personalized planning—guiding clients through debt management, retirement planning, investment strategy, and legacy building with clarity and intention. She believes financial planning should never feel overwhelming and is committed to helping clients understand that building wealth and security is possible at many income levels.
MaryAnne partners closely with her clients to design and monitor strategies tailored to their unique goals, so they can focus on what matters most—caring for their families and pursuing their dreams. Outside of her work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jared, and their three sons, Mason, Xavier, and Wyatt, along with their two dogs. She loves gathering with family and friends, working on home renovation projects, baking (feeding people is her love language), spending time at the river, kayaking, and reading.
